CITIZEN’S ADVICE BUREAU
Bacau NE Romania
The Citizens’ Advice Bureau in Romania represents a service
of public interest that answers to the citizens’ need of information
and counselling.
It provides an invaluable service particularly for the poor and
needy, helping them negotiate the maze of Kafkaesque bureaucracy
and claim their rightful social benefits. Plus helping them in legal
disputes with landlords and so on.
It was set up with the assistance of the UK's National Association
of CAB’s. It is part of a National Network which is based
on the UK model.
The Bacau Citizen’s Advice Bureau was originally funded by
two EU grants - run by FSC in conjunction with the City Council
-which have now expired.
A visitor from the National Association of CAB’s said that
the Bacau office was “one of the most efficient and successful
bureaux of the network”.
